Me dispongo a hablar de un tema relacionado con la cultura y con nuestra humanidad, éste es, la interculturalidad. Quizá a muchos de ustedes les parezca un tema de escasa importancia, puede que piensen que ni les incumbe ni les importa, pero se equivocan: tanto ustedes como yo somos productos interculturales, fruto de la interacción de seres distintos, de parentesco distinto, y seguro que, en algún momento de la historia, de seres culturalmente opuestos. Ningún humano sería humano sin ser la cultura parte de sí mismo, ninguna cultura sería cultura de no haber sufrido una evolución cultural, valga la redundancia. Este hecho es por tanto decisivo, yo no pretendo tratar un tema meramente informativo acerca de qué es o de cómo se debe abordar el tema, no seré yo quien les diga qué deben o no hacer. Pero sí les diré qué significa “interculturalidad”, en el sentido más amplio de la palabra: es comunicación, afecto, intercambio y humanidad. Lo que sí me propongo como objetivo es hacerles ver que ese pánico escénico de los ciudadanos de una nación a recibir emigrantes de otras zonas del mundo, y sobre todo cuando lo son de distintas culturas, supone temerse a sí mismo. En estos tiempos de crisis que corren, los estados desarrollados imponen medidas proteccionistas frente al fenómeno de la emigración, y son en general escasamente humanas. ¡Bien que pedíamos la llegada de inmigrantes cuando sobraba el empleo y necesitábamos construir! Ahora ya no, por lo visto “la cosa ha dado un giro de tuerca”. Suele ocurrir eso de que “las culturas avanzadas son más proclives a cometer los actos más mezquinos”, pero en fin, si no se reconocen a sí mismos, si no saben qué es la empatía hacia otro ser humano, si se es tan ciego para no ver el beneficio del intercambio cultural (tanto sentimental como intelectual) es que no merecen ser llamados humanos ni tampoco hombres del progreso. Ese mundo científico del que tanto se presume poseemos, es más bien una quimera bien oculta detrás del telón de un enorme teatro que somos los occidentales; sí, no voy a engañar a nadie, quien se niega a recibir este regalo que supone el intercambio cultural que se produce aquí, en el “mundo civilizado”, dista poco de un cavernícola. Bueno, el cavernícola al menos intentaba comunicarse, a nosotros nos cuesta algo más poner un poco de intención.

Ahora me dispongo a explicar el significado de la palabra cultura, arte del saber humano en su más alto nivel y capaz de otorgarnos el privilegio de aprender sin límites. La pregunta que quizá alguna vez se hayan planteado a sí mismos sea ¿Y cómo se distingue una cultura de otra? Muchos piensan que depende de la religión que se practique y de las costumbres que se tengan, yo digo que cada uno de nosotros somos un categoría cultural distinta a la de otro, la categoría mínima, si lo vemos desde un punto de vista de organización matemática. Somos por tanto la unidad mínima de la cultura, eso sí, que en solitario no adquiere ningún valor, algo así como el fonema, que sólo adquiere significado cuando se enlaza, pues eso es la cultura, un enlace, un lazo de progreso. Si ustedes son tan amables, dediquen al menos un minuto de su valioso tiempo a pensar sobre ésto, “no hace falta que se quiebren el tarro”, basta con que usen un poco su propia cultura sobre ella, ábranle un pequeño espacio, que aunque “salvajes” y “cavernícolas” ante todo somos cultura.

I'm talking about a topic related to culture and our humanity, it is interculturality. But I will tell you what "multiculturalism" in the broadest sense of the word is communication, affection, sharing and humanity. What I propose as the aim is to make them see the panic stage of citizens of one nation to receive migrants from other parts of the world, and especially when they are from different cultures, is fear itself. In times of crisis are the developed states impose protectionist measures against the phenomenon of emigration and human are generally low. Often happen that "cultures are more advanced to commit the most narrow," but in the end, if you do not recognize themselves if they do not know what empathy toward another human being, if you are so blind to not see the benefit of cultural exchange (both emotional and intellectual) is not worth being called human progress nor men. That's scientific world is that we have assumed, is rather an illusion of well-hidden behind a huge curtain of theater that we Westerners, yea, I will not deceive anyone who refuses to receive this gift which is the cultural exchange which occurs here in the "civilized world", far short of a caveman. Well, the cave at least trying to communicate is something we put a little more intent.
Now I have to explain the meaning of the word culture, art of human knowledge at the highest level and able to give us the privilege of learning without limits. The question that might once have raised themselves to be and how a culture is distinguished from another? Many think that depends on the religion that is practiced and customs that are taken, I say that every one of us is a distinct cultural group to another, the minimum level, if we see it from an organizational point of view of mathematics . We are therefore the minimum unit of culture, yes, that alone does not buy anything, something like the sound, which only acquires meaning when it connects, because that is the culture, a link, a loop of progress.
